Report: Of course, Dubai Police add Bugatti Veyron to fleet

Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Etc., Government/Legal, Bugatti, Police/Emergency, Middle East Well, now it's official: Nobody in Dubai is going to be able to outrun the police. You see, in addition to the Aston Martin One-77, Ferrari FF and Lamborghini Aventador that were already part of its stable of police cars, the constabulary in Dubai have most recently procured a Bugatti Veyron to add to the force. And, since the Veyron is the fastest production vehicle in the world, it'd take something truly special to evade the long arm of the law. The image you see above was tweeted by Dubai's Chief of Police, and as you can see, it's painted up in the green and white hues we've come to expect from its ilk. We do have to wonder, though, if they drilled holes in the Bugatti's roof for the light bar or if it's held on by suction cups or something else less likely to damage the delicate carbon fiber bodywork...Of course, Dubai Police add Bugatti Veyron to fleet originally appeared on Autoblog on Sat, 18 May 2013 13:05:00 EST. Legendary DJ Kid Capri Preps Your Next Party! His Fave Music Now

DJ Kid Capri is an absolute legend in the hip-hop world. As one of the most sought after DJs in the game, he's been playing over 200 shows a year for 20 years. Lucky us, he will spinning tonight at OK!'s So Sexy party, sponsored by Smirnoff, so we got the chance to chat with him about his reality show, Master of the Mix, and his top music picks for this summer. Watch: Prince Harry gets in the DJ booth and the results aren't pretty! OK!: What kind of judge are you on Master of the Mix? Kid Capri: Straightforward. I put on the poker face, and I'm a master of the craft. My credibility is at stake, so whenever I speak it has to be law. If I want them to do this one thing, you could have magic going on, you could have President Obama come, but if you didn't do what I asked you to do, that's what matters. OK!: How do you read a room to tell what kind of music people need? KC: I can walk into a crowd and immediately tells which way to go. When I'm on stage, it's like the Beyonce/Sasha Fierce thing. That confidence, that cockiness comes out. You know that these people want a certain thing and you can give it to them every time, no matter what state or country it is. There's a whole study to it. When I did Khloe Kardashian's wedding to Lamar Odom, they're Armenians, I had to find the best Armenian music out there. They weren't expecting that, but it wound up being the highlight of the party! OK!: What songs always get the best reaction? KC: It depends if you're talking new or old. For new, "Bugatti" by Ace Hood. That's a big record. "Started from the Bottom," Drake. For the older stuff, "The 900 Number," by 45 King. "Peter Piper," by Run DMC. You don't want to skip those, because people want to hear them! OK!: Who is your favorite artist right now? KC: I like Kendrick Lamar. He came from the underground, and now he's crossed over into saying something big. He didn't just walk through the door. He was struggling like Wiz Khalifa was. I'll give that to him. OK!: What do you think the song of the summer is? KC: There isn't one that won't be played out by summer, but right now, I would say "As Long as My Women Love Me." [Warning, this song is mega-explicit!] OK!: What element does every party need, besides music? KC: A drink! [laughs] You need a drink, you need a crowd. You need pretty women. And a good vibe! What do you think the song of the summer is? Which song do you include on every playlist? Are you a fan of Kendrick Lamar? Tell us in the comments or tweet us @OKMagazine.

Video: Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in Fuji Speedway time attack

Filed under: Motorsports, Coupe, Performance, Japan, Videos, Bugatti, Luxury From the same guys who brought us video of a street-legal Porsche 962C driving through the streets of Japan comes this latest video showing Le Mans-winning pro driver, Seiji Ara, lapping Fuji Speedway in a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport. Most of the video centers around Ara's impressions, but there is plenty of great video showing the supercar carving up the track's numerous turns and blasting along its lengthy front straightaway. Ara says this is the most powerful car he's ever driven, so we imagine it was as much for fun for him to drive as it is for us to watch. During the drive, the camera provides a sense of what it's like to pilot the Veyron on such a challenging track, and you can hear its turbos and wastegates getting a workout. Scroll down to watch this well-shot, well-edited video of Ara and the Veyron lapping Fuji Speedway. Oh, and be sure to stick around for the end, as there's a bonus three-way drag race you won't want to miss.Continue reading Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport in Fuji Speedway time attackBugatti Veyron Grand Sport in Fuji Speedway time attack originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 16 Apr 2013 19:58:00 EST. Followup: Guinness reconfirms Bugatti Veyron's world record top speed

Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Bugatti After taking last week to review the record category for World's Fastest Production Car, Guinness World Records has reconfirmed that the holder of this hotly contested superlative remains the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The Veyron Super Sport set the official record back in 2010 with a Guinness-verified speed of 267.8 miles per hour, but other interested parties have recently contested that record's validity because the Veyron used that day had its speed limiter removed. With the speed limiter in place, the Veyron Super Sport tops out at 258 mph. Guinness rules state that a record-setting production car must be unchanged from what is available to customers. While some, particularly Hennessey Performance, have claimed that removing the Veyron's speed limiter violated that rule, Guinness has settled the matter by stating that "a change to the speed limiter does not alter the fundamental design of the car or its engine." This is a nice win for Bugatti on top of the news last week that the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse also set a record for the fastest open-top production car with a speed of 254.04 mph. That record, however, as far as we know, has not been verified by Guinness World Records. For its part, Hennessey, whose claim against the validity of Bugatti's record didn't work this time, could potentially break the record outright if given enough road for its own Venom GT to run. The 1,244-horsepower Venom hit 265.7 mph earlier this year before running out of room on a two-mile runway, though those runs were not officially verified by Guinness. Nevertheless, there still remain questions about whether or not the Venom GT counts as a production car by Guinness standards. The world record authority defines "production" as building at least 50 examples and only 29 Venoms are supposed to be built, though Guinness does permit itself to grant exceptions.Continue reading Guinness reconfirms Bugatti Veyron's world record top speedGuinness reconfirms Bugatti Veyron's world record top speed originally appeared on Autoblog on Mon, 15 Apr 2013 13:29:00 EST.
