Obviously the winner of American Idol‘s 12th season was going to be a woman since this is the first time in many seasons that the two finalists are female. Other than that, I don’t give a shit who takes the prize because, seriously, are these victors (who always sound like cats being strangled) ever heard from again? Not really, except maybe Kelly Clarkson or even Carrie Underwood. That said, do not read further if you want to be surprised… The winner was just announced: Candice Glover, a South Carolina native who wanted to be a guidance counselor before she appeared on Idol. But here are the musical acts on the final show. Mariah Carey performed a medley that included her new single, Randy Jackson accompanied her on bass, Keith Urban did a new song, and last year’s judge Jennifer Lopez sang and danced to her new single “Live It Up” alongside rapper Pitbull. Jennifer Hudson, Aretha Franklin (via satellite from Japan), former Idol Adam Lambert, Psy and Frankie Valli also performed on the Idol stage.

SEROPEDICA, Brazil (AP) — There's a storage room just off a university lab that gives students more experience than many can handle: Skinned pigs and cats, disembodied cow livers, intestines, brains and the other unidentifiable detritus of years' worth of dissections fill a dozen wading pool-sized vats to the brim.

This was a weird week in Watch What Happens Live!-land. We were gifted with both an hour-long shade-fest with NeNe Leakes and a WWHL with Dr. Jackie Walters and Dr. Symone Whitmore on Sunday, but it was too good to be true. Because come Monday, we were Watch What Happens Live-less! Pissed? Nah. Bitter? Maybe. But thankfully the boys of 98 Degrees picked up the slack on Tuesday, followed by Alyson Hannigan and Zachary Quinto (Kinto?) on Wednesday, and Natalie Maines and Carrie Ann Inaba on Thursday (the latter of which was running on "Hawaiian Time" and therefore walked in 8 minutes after the show started.) But at least it made for a good show! OK! News: Read Last Week's WWHL Recap So like every week, we're breaking down the best and worst moments. Let's go! Considering they’ve been friends since 2011, are touring together through September and releasing their duet Everything Has Changed as a single, it’s only natural that Ed Sheeran has grown closer to serial dater Taylor Swift. In fact, he can thank her for helping him face his fears. Turns out, the country-pop superstar, 23, coaxed him into riding his first roller coaster! “She took us all to Disneyland the other day,” the A Team singer, 22, tells me this week during his Nokia Lumia concert at The Box in NYC. “I went on my very first roller coaster, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster—the one with Aerosmith.” He adds, “Heights, speed and all of that stuff scares me, so I got through it, and then she got us to go around again. It was good—just scary. Me and her sat on the very front bit. It was very, very scary, but quite cool.” OK! Still, he insists he's just friends—not lovers—with the singer-songwriter. “I think it would be incredibly unprofessional and idiotic for me to do that,” he says. “To go on tour for six months with someone and hook up with them just before you go out on tour, which is what people think we did—that’s just a really silly thing to do, because the tour would be very awkward by now, and it’s not, so that’s that.” OK! GALLERY: THE BEST-DRESSED STARS THIS WEEK: 1/25/13 He thinks Taylor gets a bad rap. “The rumor that she dates a lot of people is a misconception, because in the time that I’ve known her, which has been almost two years now, she has dated two people. Fact! And in her entire life, I think she’s dated around five or six people.” OK! GALLERY: A VISUAL HISTORY OF TAYLOR SWIFT’S EX-BOYFRIENDS AND THE SONGS SHE WROTE FOR THEM He continues, “I mean, I have female friends at home who would not have the same reputation as Taylor in media that have been with ten times more people than her.” With exes including One Direction’s Harry Styles, Conor Kennedy, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Taylor Lautner and Joe Jonas, it’s to be expected, but he feels protective of her. “I don’t like when people take shots at her because I do know her personally, and I think people get the wrong end of the stick. She’s so successful, and she’s so nice and sweet to everyone that she meets, there is nothing bad to say but she was being pictured with a lot of dudes.” OK! GALLERY: TAYLOR SWIFT BICYCLES AROUND PARIS FOR NEW VIDEO SHOOT FOR BEGIN AGAIN Hm, who should she date next? “A vet,” he says. “She likes cats.” Since they met two years ago, Taylor and Ed have been inseparable. How has their relationship evolved? “It started off very strong,” the English-born singer-songwriter says. “We started off instant friends, and it’s been that since then.” OK! GALLERY: OK! QUICK PICS: HEIDI KLUM PUMPS IRON, TAYLOR SWIFT SHOWS SOME LEG AND MORE! Why does she make a good friend? “I don’t have many American friends, so I guess she was the first American friend I had.” Wow! How’s that for good luck? Ed performs at a private concert where Nokia films his latest music video, Lego House, on Nokia Lumia 928. Stay tuned to @NokiaUS and @EdSheeran to find out more. The English Teacher is the charming story of a small town teacher whose mundane routine is turned around when a former student returns after failing as a playwright in New York City. The film was written by Dan Chariton and Stacy Chariton and is an Artina Films production. Linda Sinclair (Moore) is a forty-year-old unmarried high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She shares a small apartment with two Siamese cats and her rich collection of great literature, and she likes it that way. But Linda’s simple life turns an unexpected page when former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Angarano) returns to Kingston after trying to make it as a playwright in New York. Now in his 20s, Jason is on the verge of abandoning art, pressured by his overbearing father (Kinnear), to face reality and go to law ... Read More »
