Jackson hosts the 2012 BET Awards on July 1, live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. On Tuesday (May 22), BET announced the nominees for their 2012 awards show and even confirmed performances by Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj (though there was no official word on whether the Hulk will attend). BET president Stephen Hill held a press conference in New York City on Tuesday, and with the help of Big Sean, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Diggy, Mindless Behavior and Melanie Fiona, he spilled the beans about the big show. Samuel L. wasn't in attendance, but "The Avengers" star sent a pre-taped message promising that the show will be "too big to miss." Kanye West leads the nominations with seven, including two Video of the Year nods for the Throne's "N---as in Paris" and "Otis." Beyoncé notched six nominations, while hubby Jay-Z earned himself five noms. Big Sean was particularly excited about his three nominations, including his look in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category, where he will square off against Drake, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. "It's perfect. My grandma gonna be watchin', my mom, my family, the whole city," Sean told MTV News shortly after the press conference. "It's just tight that I can represent those people, everybody who had that dream, everybody who used to ride to school [listening to] their idols, now I'm with them. It's just tight that I can show people that it's possible." Sean broke through last year when he dropped his debut LP Finally Famous. Next, the "Marvin & Chardonnay" MC will appear on G.O.O.D Music's Cruel Summer compilation and then follow up with his sophomore album. Sean isn't the only big dog being honored at the awards show. Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars are among the nominees in the Best Male R&B category, while Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna will duke it out in the Best Female category. The Throne, Diddy-Dirty Money, Maybach Music Group and Eminem's Bad Meets Evil will compete for Best Group, and Nicki Minaj looks to be the favorite for Best Female Hip Hop. 'We actually centered this concept with an idea we created in 2007,' Fif tells Mixtape Daily of latest in Gangsta Grillz series.By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum 50 Cent and DJ Drama's Lost Tape Photo: G-Unit Main Pick Headliner: 50 Cent and DJ Drama Representing: Queens, New York Mixtape: The Lost Tape Real Spit: When it comes to hip-hop's increasingly artist-centered mixtape culture, there are no bigger figures than 50 Cent and DJ Drama. On the artist side, Fif changed the way rappers approached the tape game with releases like 50 Cent Is the Future and No Mercy, No Fear, hijacking other rapper's instrumentals and making them his own. On the DJ side, Drama created the pivotal Gangsta Grillz series, crafting unforgettable tapes for the likes of T.I., Young Jeezy and Fabolous. On Tuesday (May 22), the two mixtape giants united on Gangsta Grillz: The Lost Tape, and fans can download the release on DatPiff and Thisis50.com. "50 is mixtapes. When you think about the mixtape game, you have to credit this man right here," DJ Drama told Mixtape Daily. "He makes what I consider quality street music. I almost feel like the tape didn't happen in '07 because it was meant to happen now." 50 joked that he was bullied to do the tape by Drama, who represents Atlanta. "It was pressure, it was pressure; I was forced. The boys from the south got big on us. So they came down here to the north and said, 'Look, man, you gotta roll with Rush,' " he said with a smirk. "I fully cooperated and now we got Gangsta Grillz." Drama and Fif aren't the only big names on The Lost Tape, though: Eminem makes a brief cameo on "Murder One." "Ayo Fif, I was thinking, you should go back to doin' the sh-- you used to do," Em says on an intro to the menacing track where the G-Unit general promises death to his enemies. "Silence, it's the return of the tyrant/ See him through my third eye with both closed eyelids/ Stand closer to the homey you gonna die with/ Flames come up out the muzzle on the sh-- that I spit," 50 rhymes. In the early aughts, 50 built his reputation by remixing rap songs and adding his own high-powered verses to the familiar hits. He revisits the trend with "Riot" remix, a new take on 2 Chainz's street banger. On "OJ," 50 teams with Kidd Kidd, his new signee from New Orleans. The piano-laced track finds Fif and his protégé drawing an analogy between their murderous ways and embattled football legend O.J. Simpson. 50 Cent and DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz collaboration may have taken five years to materialize, but you can't argue quality. The Lost tape was well worth the wait. "We actually centered this concept with an idea we created in 2007, and we're finally getting around to it, so it's well overdue," 50 said. Joints to Check For: » "Get Busy": "It's featuring Kidd Kidd. You know, he off that Rider Gang roster, so they gonna get a chance to see some of this new talent that I'm associating myself with. Learn to love it." » "Murder One": "The first video is 'Murder One.' It was actually shot in Brooklyn, New York. It was put together. I got a specific quota I'm utilizing to shoot videos now so I can pick up production value." For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines. 'I responded to him and I told him, 'Let's work,' ' Fif tells MTV News of a Twitter collabo request from Wiz.By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Ade Mangum 50 Cent Photo: MTV News 50 Cent was admitted to the hospital earlier this week when he began to suffer from severe stomach pains, but by the time he was released Thursday, the G-Unit CEO had already put plans into motion for a new collaboration with Wiz Khalifa. MTV News caught up with Fif at his G-Unit offices in NYC after his release, and he explained that a tweet from Wiz gave birth to the collaboration. The tweet in question: "I Gotta Song I Wanna Put @50Cent On." "While I was sitting in the hospital, I saw Wiz Khalifa send a tweet out saying he got something, and he felt like it would be cool if I was actually on a record with him," 50 said. "So I responded to him and I told him, 'Let's work.' I'm feeling good, I was feeling better by the time that tweet went through, so I said, 'Send it,' and I spoke to him a later on. "Stay tuned to hear what happens next because it's gonna go down," he added, confirming that the collaboration is for real. Fif's guest verse is likely to pop up on the Taylor Gang MC's upcoming LP O.N.I.F.C., which is set to debut August 28. It would mark their first collaboration together. Thus far, Wiz has revealed that features on his Rolling Papers follow-up will include Pharrell, Cam'ron, Curren$y and the Weeknd. 50 Cent has made a full recovery since his release from the hospital, and next Tuesday, he will drop The Lost Tape, hosted by DJ Drama. During his stay in the hospital, the Queens mogul received a phone call from longtime friend and collaborator Eminem, who had a few firm words for him. "He goes, 'Yo, Fif, you were shot nine times, man, if you die over a burger, this sh-- ain't gonna go right,' " 50 told MTV News just hours after his release. " 'People ain't gonna be feelin' this.' Fif tells MTV News he's 'in good spirits' despite nearly having to go into surgery to remove blockage in his small intestine.By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum 50 Cent Photo: MTV News Nine gun shots wasn't enough to take out 50 Cent, but a bad hamburger could have been the undoing of rap's #1 bad guy. The G-Unit general was hospitalized this week with stomach pains, but a phone call from his homey Eminem surely lightened the mood. "I'm in a dead serious moment like, 'Damn, I don't believe this is happenin' right now,' " Fif said recalling the moments before Slim Shady phoned him. "He goes, 'Yo Fif, you were shot nine times man if you die over a burger, this sh-- ain't gonna go right. People ain't gonna be feelin' this.' " On Wednesday, Fif tweeted a picture of himself in a hospital bed and sent a public message to his boxing friend Floyd Mayweather that read: "I don't want to go into surgery." Lucky for him, he didn't have to. When MTV News checked up on 50 at his NYC G-Unit office on Thursday, just hours after he was released from the hospital, he said he was able to avoid going into surgery to remove blockage in his small intestine. "I'm feelin' better; I'm in good spirits," Fif added. DJ Drama, who is in New York to promote his upcoming mixtape with 50, The Lost Tape, told MTV News he was worried about his boy. To lift the gangsta rapper's spirits Drama sent three stuffed animals to 50: a giraffe, an elephant and a lion. They say it's the thought that counts, but Drama's get-well gifts didn't go over so well. "That wasn't cool. That's all you get," 50 told Drama jokingly while our cameras rolled. "You get 15 tracks, you damn near have to die to do a Gangsta Grillz and this is the thanks I get?" Stay tuned to MTV News' Mixtape Daily for more on 50 Cent and DJ Drama's The Lost Tape, which will be released on May 22. Related Artists 50 Cent Eminem

'We take you on a ride through this album,' Joell Ortiz tells MTV News of Welcome to: Our House.By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Lacsina Royce da 5"9" of Slaughterhouse Photo: MTV News Slaughterhouse are putting the finishing touches on their humble abode. Welcome to: Our House, Slaughterhouse's major-label debut on Shady Records, is scheduled for a June 12 release, and Eminem is just putting the finishing touches on the much-anticipated LP. "The album is done. In terms of vocal recording, we're done. Marshall is still in the process of mixing, we still got a couple of records that we're missing," Royce da 5'9" told MTV News on May 9 from the set of their "My Life" video. "We're on pace for June, worst-case scenario, we're looking at July, but it's definitely coming, 100 percent. This isn't SH's first album, but ever since it was announced that Royce, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I signed to Eminem's Shady Records at the top of 2011, rap fans have been wondering what type of sound the major-label marriage would yield. "Fire," Joe Budden said, describing the sound of the new album in a single word. His partner-in-rhyme Ortiz was a little more descriptive. "It's a really personal album, but there are records like 'My Life' which are celebratory," he said. Each member of Slaughterhouse is a master lyricist in his own right, and when they converge for group efforts, the expectations are that much higher. "There are records were those core Slaughterhouse fans will get their 'Ohs and ahs' like 'OK, the pen is pushing,' " Ortiz said, promising a barrage of witty lyrics. "It's themed, but we take you on a ride through this album. Y'all gonna enjoy it." The group is so excited about the album that they are taking great care in making sure it isn't leaked onto the Internet prematurely. In fact, Welcome to: Our House is so closely guarded, none of Slaughterhouse members even have a copy. "We don't have the music, it stays in the studio. It's safe there," Ortiz told us. "But every time we go to record or just get up and meet in Detroit with Em and everybody at Shady, I personally ask them to hear records." What are you hoping to hear on Welcome to: Our House? 'My Life' video is only for the 'most wildest and most vividest of imaginations,' Joe Budden tells MTV News.By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Lacsina Joe Budden on the set of Slaugherhouse's video for "My Life" Photo: MTV News Why shouldn't Slaughterhouse enjoy all of their recent success? For years, Royce da 5'9", Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I have been putting in some serious work in hip-hop's underground, not always receiving their just due. Now that they are a premiere act on Eminem's Shady Records, rap's most lyrical bunch will take time reflect on the ups and downs with Cee Lo Green in their video for "My Life." "It's just more of a rags-to-riches type of story that chronicles struggle, hardship, all of the hurdles that we've all jumped and some of the things that all of us have extreme gratitude for, if you listen to the lyrics of the songs," an expertly groomed Joe Budden told MTV News of the video's concept on Wednesday while shooting in L.A. On the energetic second single from the group's upcoming Welcome to: Our House LP, the lyricists ponder their current wins in the face of all their previous losses. Cee Lo belts out a familiar hook over a Streetrunner and Sarom-produced track which lifts Italian band Corona's 1993 dance hit "The Rhythm of the Night." Though the newly released track has yet to make a dent in any of the Billboard song charts, it has all the makings of a hit record and has the potential to become a radio mainstay for the summer. It may be hard to picture the B-roll, with all of its green screen, but for the Syndrome-directed video for "My Life," the planned visual effects will be key in telling the quartet's story. "Unless you have the most wildest and most vividest of imaginations you probably won't be able to get it, but he's doin' a lot of editing in post, he's doin' a lot of camera tricks," Budden said of Syndrome's aim. "He's gonna make it all come together, he's gonna make it all real sexy and we're excited to work with him." What do you think of Slaughterhouse and Cee Lo's new single "My Life"?
