CBS chief Les Moonves diverted from the pack in this year’s upfront presentations by talking up the ad value of conventional television over digital media. “Everyone is still talking about the first screen, the TV screen,” he told the Carnegie Hall audience. “The first screen must come first, and there’s no second screen without it.” He noted that CBS’ ratings lead its competitors “by the largest margin of any network in 23 years. (Facebook CEO) Mark Zuckerberg was five.” And he adds that “we feel confident that we’re going to win again.” This coming season CBS will broadcast the football’s AFC championship, the Super Bowl and the Grammy Awards over the course of just a few weeks.

Filed under: Hybrid, Sedan, Plants/Manufacturing, Fisker, Electric, Luxury The Fisker Atlantic extended-range plug-in vehicle will start production about a year after its previously estimated mid-2013 date, Inside EVs blog reports, citing leaked company documents that were dated "a few weeks ago." The Atlantic, formerly known as Project Nina, will compete pricewise against the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series sedans, as well as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class, Jaguar XF and Audi A4 and A6. That would put the model in the $50,000 to $60,000 range, according to the publication. The model, which will still be produced at Fisker's Delaware plant, will have 300 horsepower, a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and emissions of 50 grams per kilometer of CO2, Inside EVs reports, citing the documents. "As these documents are obviously leaked investor documents and highly confidential, I am not prepared to comment any further," a Fisker representative tells Autoblog sister site, AutoblogGreen. The status of the Atlantic has been in question since plans for the former General Motors plant in Delaware were put on hold once the U.S. Department of Energy froze most of the $529 million in loans earmarked for the California-based company. Fisker unveiled the Atlantic at the New York Auto Show last month, saying that the car's price tag would be "a much lower price point" than Fisker's Karma sedan.Leaked Fisker Atlantic documents reveal big production delay, specs originally appeared on Autoblog on Wed, 16 May 2012 16:29:00 EST. Made in America festival curator says, 'What people do in their own homes is their business, and you can choose to love whoever you love.'By Jocelyn Vena Jay-Z Photo: Gilbert Carrasquillo/ Getty Images Jay-Z has long backed President Obama, and after last week's headline-making news that Obama supports same-sex marriage, the hip-hop mogul is applauding the president for breaking new ground and helping bring progress in the gay-rights movement. "I've always thought it as something that was still holding the country back," Jay-Z told CNN in Philadelphia, where he announced the launch of the Made in America festival. "What people do in their own homes is their business, and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination, plain and simple." Asked whether the declaration would cost Obama votes among religious African-Americans in his re-election bid, Hov said, "It's really not about votes. It's about people," adding, "I think it's the right thing to do as a human being." Jay is hardly the first celebrity to come out in support of Obama's comments. Everyone from "Jersey Shore" stars Snooki and JWoww to "Vampire Diaries" actress Nina Dobrev and boy banders the Wanted have all backed Obama. "It was definitely happy news, but I almost don't want to applaud him too much, because I wish he would have done this a long time ago," Perez Hilton told MTV News. "Having said that, it's better that he did it than not. He could have waited until after the election. However, it's clearly a calculated move in that he felt confident that this won't hurt his chances at getting re-elected, and that's why he did it." 'All I've heard is that it's very scandalous, to say the least,' Dobrev tells MTV News of the best-selling book.By Jocelyn Vena Nina Dobrev Photo: MTV News Nina Dobrev hasn't read the best-selling "Fifty Shades of Grey" just yet, but with every young starlet's name floating around as a possible contender for the female lead, literature student Anastasia Steele, she might want to start reading up. "All I've heard is that it's very scandalous, to say the least," the "Vampire Diaries" star told MTV News. "I haven't read it, but who knows? I mean, well, I guess we'll have to see." Fans of the erotic trilogy might not mind seeing Dobrev get her S&M on with her "Diaries" co-star Ian Somerhalder in the big-screen adaptation of the E L James book. But she confessed that if she does play the part, she wouldn't want to have Somerhalder playing the millionaire beau, Christian Grey. "I don't know if that's a good idea," she said. "I think it's best for any of the actors on the 'Vampire Diaries' to kind of do their own things ... and create new characters. And as much as you try when you shoot a movie, if it's two of the same people, the fans will always see you as ... they'll see me as Elena and they'll see him as Damon if we do a film together." So, that means "Fifty" fans will only get either Dobrev or Somerhalder if either gets cast in the film. And Dobrev is most certainly rooting for him. "I think it would be better [if] either he should get it or I should get it," she said. "I know that apparently he's really great for the role, so I hope that he gets it." Given how sexy the book is, casting might not be the only challenge. Some fans are wondering how they can adapt the highly charged sex scenes for an R-rated version of the film. "Making this movie will absolutely be a challenge. It is going to take a devoted director who admittedly likes the books and understands that, first and foremost, this is a love story," Lisa Parker from FiftyShadesFilm.com told MTV News. "If telling the love story is the main focus, then we do believe the steamy sex scenes can be shot and edited in a way to get us an R-rated movie rather than NC-17 ... [the fans] are confident that Ms. James will protect the integrity of her story regardless of the ultimate rating." Who would you like to see cast in the film version of "Fifty Shades of Grey"?
