Avril Lavigne Wallpapers are about popular signer. By the time Avril reached high school, her vocal prowess seemed rivaled only by her ability to play the guitar, and she began sending videotapes of her stage performances to labels and management companies throughout North America. Following a host of rejections, her talent eventually caught the eyes of Nettwerk Management, an organization that fostered other such Canadian acts as Sarah McLachlan, Sum 41 and Barenaked Ladies. After briefly returning to Canada, Avril made the move to Manhattan to embark on her professional career, accompanied by her older brother Matt as an escort. Although she had been signed to Arista strictly as a vocalist, Avril Lavigne balked at the notion of singing someone else\'s songs and insisted on having a hand in the writing process. When she failed to click with any New York-based songwriters, Avril made her third move of the year, this time to Los Angeles.

Spears says she wants to 'inspire' contestants on the Fox show. By Jocelyn Vena "X Factor" judges L.A. Reid, Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell and Britney Spears at the FOX Upfront Photo: Desiree Navarro/ Getty Images Britney Spears seems poised and ready to sit beside her fellow "X Factor" judges on the revamped second season of the show. At the Fox upfront this week, the singer appeared alongside fellow newbie Demi Lovato, as well as returning judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, and gushed about the Fox reality show. "Just really being able to be there and inspire the other contestants ... they're so young and they're trying to fulfill their dreams," she said at the event. "It's just a whole beautiful concept. It's just really cool." While her negotiations with the show had been making headlines in the weeks leading up to the official announcement, Cowell brushed off all the hoopla, which includes a rumored $15 million payday for joining the show. "A force of nature, I was somewhere in the middle, but I'm thrilled. I love these guys," he said of getting everyone, including Spears, on board. "I charmed her." Spears seemed equally taken with the prickly Brit. "He's adorable. He's completely adorable. He didn't have to try hard," she admitted. Spears' addition to the show is hardly the only casting making news: Lovato also opened up about having the "X Factor." While little is known about the final hours going into locking Lovato in for the show, she's rumored to be taking in $1 million, according to Gossip Cop. Lovato was on a short list of possible contenders to appear on the show that also reportedly included Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne. "I'm so excited to be here," she said. "I guess you called," she added with Simon by her side. "And that's how it got set up, just a phone call." In addition to getting warm and fuzzy about each other in the interview, Cowell shared that the judges will be filming in the next couple weeks when they hit up Austin, Texas, to begin scoping out talent. And if you think the claws might come out then, Reid assured viewers that that won't be the case. "Oh no, we're gonna be really sweet to each other," he said. "Nothing controversial. It'll be perfect." Related Artists Britney Spears

Lovato and Britney Spears expected to be at Monday (May 14) Fox upfront event.By Gil Kaufman Demi Lovato Photo: Tom Pennington/ Getty Images America will meet the rebooted panel of the "X Factor" on Monday and filling the fourth slot at the judge's table will be Demi Lovato. The 19-year-old Disney star is expected to make the announcement of her high-profile gig on Monday at the Fox network upfront presentation, which will also officially reveal the worst-kept-secret in TV: that Britney Spears has joined the show as well. Lovato is one of the many names that has been in the mix for the gig, which at one point also included Avril Lavigne, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. TMZ confirmed that Lovato has scored the gig, which will put her on alongside series creator Simon Cowell and music executive L.A. Reid when the show comes back for its second season in the fall. Last week, Spears finalized her deal, which will reportedly pay her $15 million for one season's work. Spears and Lovato replace Paula Abdul and former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who were fired in January after the first season of the heavily-hyped show failed to live up to Cowell's lofty expectations. Both Lovato and Spears are expected to be on hand on Monday when Fox announces the show's new lineup at its upfront presentations. Though Lovato has a summer tour planned , those dates will reportedly not conflict with her new duties on "X Factor." A spokesperson for "X Factor" could not be reached for comment at press time. Last week, MTV News asked some media experts whether the move to "X Factor" makes sense for Spears and the general consensus was that it did. "I think it is a good move, actually," said Entertainment Weekly writer Tanner Stransky. "I think she has so many people on her team watching what she's doing and being careful. I think nobody would let her take a misstep, but I think it's the right move right now." The only concern is how the reclusive star might deal with the increased scrutiny and requirement to think on her feet on live TV. "I think everyone is a little concerned, simply because Britney has been very press-shy since she's been in her conservatorship, and everything is incredibly guarded and incredibly controlled," said Keith Caulfield, associate director of charts at Billboard. "And there can be uncontrollable moments on 'The X Factor,' and if things are not completely in control and things are not rehearsed, things could go wrong. With a live show, anything can happen, and that can be very exciting but, at the same time, a little worrisome." Lovato and Spears, 30, are the kind of young singers that "X Factor" producers were seemingly looking for to give the show a more youthful appeal and share their experience with contestants. Both are former child stars who've struggled with personal issues and neither has experience appearing on live network television. Do you think Demi Lovato will make a good "X Factor" judge? Lovato in talk to join Britney Spears on judging panel.By Gil Kaufman Demi Lovato Photo: Scott Gries After booting Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell's "X Factor" appears to be going in a youthful direction. Though producers of the show have not yet officially announced that Britney Spears has joined the judging panel of the show for its upcoming second season, according to reports the fourth seat — next to Cowell and record executive L.A. Reid — could go toDemi Lovato. Citing unnamed sources, The Hollywood Reporter said on Tuesday that Disney star Lovato, 19, is "closing a deal" to join Spears as one of the new judges on the show. In an attempt to lure a younger audience, producers are in final negotiations to sign Lovato, though the trade magazine noted that, "The deal is not yet done and could fall apart." Spokespeople for Lovato and "Factor" could not be reached for comment at press time, and did not comment to the Reporter for their story, but the magazine speculated that Cowell could be planning to make a judging reveal at the Fox upfront event for ad buyers on May 14. Auditions with the new judges are slated to take place at the end of this month. Though Spears has reportedly been circling a $15 million deal to appear on the second season of the show, the Los Angeles Times noted that final talks on her contract have dragged on because the 30-year-old singer has, "Insisted on various perks that have bogged down negotiations." A point of conflict has reportedly been Cowell's insistence that Spears sign a two-year contract with the show, while she wants the option of opting out after just one season if she feels the gig is not a good fit. Whether Spears manager/boyfriend Jason Trawick and Cowell were able to reach an agreement on the issue has not been made public. Lovato's name is also not the only youthful one being bandied about for the final spot. Both Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne have been mentioned as potential judges, though no details or confirmation of those talks have emerged. Several other female stars, including Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey, have also been rumored as potential "Factor" judges, but neither appear to be in the mix at this point. The FOX show's very long and public search for judges is making it look desperate.By John Mitchell Britney Spears Photo: Max Morse/Getty Images On Wednesday (May 2) we learned that Demi Lovato, Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus are all being courted as possible replacements for Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger on "The X Factor" judging panel. But don't get your knickers in a twist — "The X Factor" originated in Britain, after all — Britney Spears is reportedly still in the game too, though reports that she "insisted on various perks that have bogged down negotiations" are floating around. So to be clear, Britney might still be in, Demi is close to a deal and Miley and Avril are on the table. A few months ago, we could have replaced the Demi with Janet Jackson and Miley with Mariah Carey. And prior to her tragic passing in February, Whitney Houston was also being considered for the panel, according to remaining judges L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell. Never before has the casting process for a reality television show judge been so exhaustingly long and public. Sure, before Jennifer Lopez signed on to "American Idol" there were rumors that she was being pursued, but no public statements were made until she had signed on the dotted line. And while the constant stream of potential candidates being leaked to the press or talked about openly by Reid or Cowell may itself be a negotiation technique — most likely to try to ambush Spears into signing on for fear of being replaced — is also doing something very specific to the troubled signing competition. It is making "The X Factor" look desperate. Really desperate. With the FOX upfronts just two weeks away and filming on the production scheduled to begin early this summer, it's not exactly encouraging that the show cannot secure above-the-title talent. An upfront is a showcase hosted at the start of important advertising sales periods by network executives, and they are attended by the press and, more importantly, major advertisers. "The X Factor" is a costly show for FOX, and the deal on the table for Spears, reported to be $15 million per season, certainly isn't bringing the budget down. Watching the never-ending parade of potential judges unfurl and then walk away — and keep in mind that the show is also casting about for two hosts to replace Steve Jones — cannot be serving the show well with eagle-eyed advertisers watching closely to see where their money will be best spent. Conducting contract negations so publicly is always a risky endeavor, but in this specific case, "The X Factor" has backed itself into a corner. The show looked silly when talks with music legends Jackson and Carey fell through after so much public discussion, and in making the details of Spears' deal public and then failing to (at this point) lock her in, execs at "The X Factor" look borderline inept. There's been some discussion that by tossing Miley, Avril and Demi's names into the ring, the show is trying to make Spears seem replaceable and get her to back down on her alleged "various perks." It's a dirty way to conduct business and ultimately doesn't speak well of what is going on behind the scenes in the show's search for its new panelists. If that is indeed the case, it's like the show is grasping at straws. And that's not the best look when you are walking into the FOX upfronts seeking advertisers on the heels of an underperforming first season. Related Artists Britney Spears
