Filed under: Sedan, Hatchback, Audi, Design/Style, Luxury 2011 Audi A7 Sportback - Click above for high-res image gallery There's a new automotive segment being born as we speak. Previewed by the Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide and BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo, modern four-door sportback sedans combine the functionality of a hatchback with seating for four or five, all wrapped in a shapely, sleek package. Audi previewed its own offering at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show by way of the Sportback concept, and now the production model has officially been unveiled in Munich. From a design standpoint, it's obvious that the A7 Sportback was penned alongside the all-new flagship A8 sedan. Audi's signature LED running lamps are intact up front, in a more angular shape than what you'd see on the A4 or R8, and the chopped rear deck is not only a throwback to fastback sedans from many decades ago, but its design mimics that of the larger A8, as well. The most striking view, however, is the side profile, which looks to be one part shooting brake and one part coupe, though if we're honest, we wish the A7's front overhang were reduced just a bit. Interestingly, at one point, Audi refers to the A7 has having a boattail, which initially made us cringe, but staring at it a bit more, this notion makes a degree of sense. Powertrain details are slim as of this writing, but Audi says that the A7 Sportback will debut with four different V6 offerings, two petrol and two diesel. Expect the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 from the S4, S5 and A6 to be on hand, as well as the 3.0-liter TDI V6 found in the Q7 SUV. Audi will offer the A7 in both front- and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the Multitronic CVT and seven-speed S-tronic transmissions being used, respectively. Interestingly, unlike the A8, the A7 will make use of electric power steering, so we hope Audi's boffins have done their homework on dialing in feel and linearity. Inside, we expect the standard raft of Audi amenities, including the automaker's new MMI Touch infotainment interface. From there, the latest in Audi technology will be on hand, including wireless internet connectivity. The interior is very much akin to that in the new A8, and we fully expect that it will offer premium creature comforts while still being driver-focused. No official confirmation for North American consumers just yet, but we expect an all-wheel drive model to make it to these shores - presumably with a gasoline and S-tronic gearbox only configuration. Hit the jump to read the full details in Audi's press release, and click through the attached gallery for high-res shots. We fully anticipate that Audi will open the floodgates on further information and images in the near future, so stay tuned. He also reveals on MTV News' 'RapFix Live' that he hopes to get in the studio with producer Frankie Beverly.By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Sway Calloway Rick Ross Photo: Sohyung Kang/ MTV News Rick Ross has made "Maybach Music" with Jay-Z and "Aston Martin Music" with Drake and all kinds of numbers in between with a who's who list of talent. But the Miami rap titan still has a checklist of artists he would like to work with in the future, ranging from an iconic rap producer to a legendary soul singer. During his appearance Friday (July 23) on our inaugural "RapFix Live" broadcast, Ross revealed that he hopes to get in the studio with Dr. Dre or Frankie Beverly for his Teflon Don follow-up. "I look forward to going to the next level, so hopefully on the next album, you might see a Dr. Dre collaboration or you might see a Frankie Beverly collaboration," Ross told Sway. "I'm a player with this." The Bawse hasn't connected with Dre yet, but he made sure to let his wishes be known. "I'm putting it in the air right now," Ross said of the collaboration. Next up, Ross will start production on the video for "Live Fast, Die Young," his single with Kanye West. The Def Jam star told MTV News earlier this week that he secured Hype Williams as the director of the clip, after his plans for Spike Lee to helm the shoot fell through. "Yeah, the homie Yeezy, we decided on Hype Williams. Hype Williams will direct 'Live Fast, Die Young,' " he revealed. "Hit me up on Twitter @rickyrozay, and the reason I say that, I tweeted a picture of me and the homie Spike Lee. He came to my birthday party. I was brainstorming, like, 'We need that different vibe.' I tweeted a picture with me and the homie Spike. Ultimately, Hype will direct it. But look for Spike to do a Rozay video. I'mma be the first since [Public Enemy's] 'Fight the Power' and the other great [videos he directed back in the day]." Catch Wiz Khalifa on next week's "RapFix Live"! Ross tells Mixtape Daily we might see the unofficial track on a Teflon Don re-release.By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross Photo: MTV News The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive Rick Ross' Teflon Don LP came out Tuesday (July 20), and by now, if you've been listening to the radio and the mixtapes, you've already heard the extended version of "Aston Martin Music," a highlight of the project. The track features Chrisette Michele and Drake sharing hook duties. On the extended version, which is not on the album, Drake adds a rap verse. Ross stopped by our 1515 headquarters on Monday to explain Drizzy's extra vocals. "It boils down to me having the idea, the concept," Ross said. "Shout-out to J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. I got the production from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. I wanted to do something else, two-seater music. That's what I like to call it when it's personal music for you and that special female that's riding shotgun in a two-seater. Chrisette Michele, she was on 'Mafia Music 2.' She came to Miami to film the video. I got her in the studio to do the first half of this idea I had, which is 'Aston Martin Music.' She was like, 'What you mean just do half of the chorus?' I was like, 'Yeah, just do half. I'mma save the other half.' " Trusting Ross' direction, the singer got in and laid the vocals we hear today: "Riding to the music, this is how we do it/ All night/ Racing down the freeway/ Just me and my baby/ In our ride." "She loved the beat. She wrote her lyrics," Ross continued of Michele's session for "Aston Martin." "It took her 10, 15 minutes to cut her vocals. I'm sitting there like, 'Wow. All right, all right.' At that point, I didn't know who was gonna sing the second half." The Bawse said listening to Drake's new album, in his leisure time, inspired him to make that call to his friend from Toronto. "I sent it to the homie," the Miami rap lord described. "He laced me. Right then, he was ready to jump on his verse. Right then, he was ready to cock and load. I was like, 'I know you finishing your joint. Just give me that half a chorus, and I'mma make it do what it do. He loved the record. I got it back. He laced it at the point. When he heard [the finished version], it was magic. He was like, 'I'm finnin' to go in the studio, Ross. I'mma need to get on that.' " A version of the song with just an extended chorus and Drake's verse called "Paris Morton Music" came out shortly after "Aston Martin Music" leaked to the Net almost two weeks ago. "I talk slicker than a pimp from Augusta," Drake raps on the track. Then, one of Ross' engineers mixed Drake's verse and extended chorus with the album version of "AMM," and that song has lived on the Net and mixtapes ever since. It's also getting play on the radio. Ross said he has no problems with an unofficial extended version of "AMM" being out. He might even include it on a repackaging of Teflon Don in the future. "It's only right," Ross said. "I got on [Drake's] first single ['Find Your Love']. He even put a twist on the title after some sexy ladies, I believe. It made it feel good. That's what that music is about. On that re-release, that deluxe packaging, that's what you may get. You never know." ![Rumormill: Lamborghini developing Touareg-based SUV, V8 Gallardo [w/poll]](/gfx/noPic.png)
Filed under: Coupe, Sedan, Performance, SUV, Lamborghini, Rumormill, Luxury Lamborghini LM002 - Click above for high-res image gallery Hold on to your butts, Lamborghini fans. Word from Car and Driver's German correspondent is that the bullish Italian automaker is strongly considering re-entering the hardcore SUV segment. Considering that the brand's last effort into such uncharted territory brought us the Hummer-esque LM002, you can officially color us intrigued. If the machine does make it past the planning stages, it will reportedly be based on the platform shared by the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, but we imagine it would get a powertrain more suitable for Lamborghini use - we can only hope that means a V12, as was the case with the LM002. Another market Lamborghini is said to be considering is the entry-level V8 supercar segment. If a production model does indeed come about, it would slot below the V10-powered Gallardo. As with the aforementioned SUV, this would not be the first time Lambo has dipped a toe in these waters, as its Urraco, Silhouette and Jalpa played in the exact same market in the 1970s and 1980s before the Italian manufacturer pulled out in favor of traditional range-topping supercars like the Diablo and Murcielago. Sadly, rumor has it that Lamborghini will not pursue the Estoque concept, leaving the Maserati Quattroporte as the only Italian to do battle with the likes of the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide. Still, the company must at least be considering the Estoque since it went ahead and produced a concept to gauge reaction. So, which of these new Lamborghini rumors would you most like to see fulfilled? Take part in our totally unscientific poll after the break. Auto Shows, Ferrari, Racing 2010 Le Mans Classic - Click above for high-res image gallery, and help us caption some of the cars! Every two years in July, hundreds of vintage race cars gather at the famed Le Mans race circuit in France to fire up their engines and relive glory days in the historic corners and long straights of the nearly 8.5-mile Circuit de la Sarthe. But that's just part of it. In addition to the priceless machinery racing on the track, thousands of other classic cars trek to the grounds to fill nearly every open spot at the huge venue. Autoblog was invited by Porsche France to enjoy the 2010 Le Mans Classic in person, and needless to say, it was absolutely spectacular. According to the organizers, this year's show welcomed 100,000 spectators, 8,000 display cars, 460 racing cars and 1,000 drivers. With sunny 95-degree temperatures over both days, the weather was unusually hot and the grounds chokingly dusty, but it didn't seem to keep anyone (or anything) from the event. When not enjoying the racing, we strolled the show and stumbled over well-preserved classics from Jaguar, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Renault, Lamborghini, Audi, BMW and more. Porsche models were everywhere as the various European Porsche Car Clubs stormed the venue with more than 800 cars. Where else can you physically brush elbows with a race-ready BMW M1, a brand-new 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO and ride in the back of a historic war-era Willys Jeep all within the same 60 seconds? Le Mans Classic, baby. And these weren't sterile stuck-behind-the-ropes museum stock, either - everything was meant to be driven and enjoyed. We've put together a massive gallery offering just a taste of the caliber of vehicles on display, running hot laps and racing last weekend. While we've attempted to caption many of these, some still have us stumped. If you can identify a few of the nameless, give us a shout in the comments (with the photo number as seen in the URL) and we'll update the captions as quickly as our server's cache will let us. Last year, Robb Report and Aston Martin teamed-up to build a limited run of seven all-black V8 Vantage Roadsters for serious collectors. It appears that the British manufacturer liked the concept so much that it came up with a very similar trim level package for its range-topping DBS. Officially billed ...

Filed under: Mercedes-Benz, Design/Style Silver Arrow concept watch by Fabien Cacheux - Click above for high-res image gallery If you're going to make a supercar, you're going to need the watch to go with it. It's what upscale customers have come to expect. But while Mercedes-Benz has collaborated with a number of watchmakers in the past, it has yet to release a timepiece to accompany its new flagship, the SLS AMG. That's where Faibein Cacheux comes in. The budding French industrial designer has penned the concept watch you see here to compliment the Gullwing supercar. It features a tourbillon movement rotating around a central hub with a power reserve meter at six o'clock, all housed in a titanium case and affixed with a neoprene strap. And like Jaeger-LeCoultre's Aston Martin transponder, it incorporates buttons to open and close the doors remotely. ' Unfortunately the watch is just a concept at the moment, but if Mercedes could display the fortitude to bring the SLS to market, maybe it could do the same for the Silver Arrow concept watch. Filed under: Lotus Not the shape of Lotus things to come? - Click above for high-res image gallery Lotus plans to reinvent itself, and in addition to a range of new products, a dealership makeover is in the cards. PistonHeads reports that Lotus CEO Dany Bahar sent out a letter to the company's European dealers informing them that their contracts will be terminated as of July, 2012. Why the long notice? The company's current contract with its dealers stipulates that Lotus must give two years notice prior to contract termination. The move will likely result in many dealers losing their ability to sell Lotus' wares, but current dealers will reportedly be given the opportunity to re-apply for a new contract. Back in June Lotus announced to the world that it was entering the "Dawn of a New Era." Lotus has reportedly been spending its time and money picking up ex-Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin employees in an effort to build up its brand as a high-performance luxury make. Filed under: Classics, Convertible, Auctions, Aston Martin, Misc. Auto Shows, UK 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage Convertible - Click above for high-res image gallery Britain has produced more than its fair share of memorable classics, but arguably few as seductive as the classic Aston Martins of the 1960s. Introduced in 1963, the DB5 benefited from several generations of DB4 development, largely retaining the Touring bodywork but replacing the old 3.6-liter engine with a new 4.0-liter unit and several other advancements. Over two years of production, over a thousand DB5s were built, the vast majority of coupes outselling the 12 Radford coachbuilt shooting brakes and the 23 convertibles. Of those few roadsters, only nine were outfitted with the more powerful Vantage engine, and one of them has just sold for a record £551,500 ($833k) at the Bonhams auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The example in question, with original "VDB 5" license plates, had three previous owners who saw it through two comprehensive restorations (one at the Aston Martin Works Service in 1992 and another at Aston Service Hamburg in 2004), and was displayed last year at Villa d'Este. Along with the DB5 Vantage Convertible (the Volante name only coming into use on the subsequent DB6), Bonhams also auctioned off the 1937 Bentley featured in the Bond film "Never Say Never Again" for £221,500 ($335k), a rare Lister-Jaguar for £232,500 ($351k) and several more, totaling £3,707,687 ($5.6m) in sales. Details in the press release after the jump, with photos of the beautiful Aston in the gallery below.
