Jennifer Hudson Signed as Judge on 'American Idol'—But She's Not the Only Returning Alum!

It's out with the new and in with the old on the next season of American Idol! Jennifer Hudson has signed a deal to return to the singing competition, this time as a judge. E! News reveals that the other seats behind the judges' table on season 13 will hold some very familiar faces. Listen: American Idol Third Place Contestant Angie Miller Has Released Her First Single "We're told that Kelly Clarkson is also close to signing on," reads the report. Producers are thinking of having a panel of just three, which means the final spot could go to another alum like Clay Aiken or Adam Lambert. OK! News: Find Out What Randy Jackson Will Do Now That He's Done With Idol It's pretty obvious the network is scrambling to recapture some of  the audience it has lost over the past few years—the series has about 10 million viewers less than it did two years ago. But will bringing back former contestants work? And will they be able to be impartial judges considering what they went through themselves? OK! News: See How Nicki Minaj Coped With Bullies Growing Up "The whole reason people voted for me on American Idol is because I'm an everyday, normal girl," Kelly has said. So will she find it tough not to over-sympathize with the same sort of contestants? Time will tell, but America will always have the final word. Which former contestants would make you watch American Idol if they return as judges? Tell us in the comments section or tweet us @OKMagazine.

ETC: Jaguar sculpture by RCA design students is a minimal beauty

Filed under: Jaguar, Design/Style With its well-deserved reputation for high design, it is not particularly surprising to see Jaguar reaching outside of the automotive realm for future inspiration. To that end, the British automaker recently enlisted the talents of students at the Royal College of Art to create a piece of forward-looking, automotive-inspired sculpture. The result of this project can be seen above; a sculpture created by RCA students Claire Miller and Ewan Gallimore, and unveiled to a small audience to kick off London's Clerkenwell Design Week. The spare and rather elegant form created by the talented pair absolutely harkens back to coupes from Jaguar's past as well as its present (read: F-Type) without aping any one model particularly. In a press release, the artists had this to say about the work: "Our form relates to the Jaguar brand through its sculptural volumes, bespoke materials and visual lightness. These elements helped us to create a sculpture that aimed to display a seamless transition between interior and exterior space." Get a better look at the Jaguar artwork in the gallery above, or read through the press release, which follows.Continue reading Jaguar sculpture by RCA design students is a minimal beautyJaguar sculpture by RCA design students is a minimal beauty originally appeared on Autoblog on Fri, 24 May 2013 09:14:00 EST. IATSE Seals 3-Year Pact With Commercials Producers

NEW YORK, NEW YORK — The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) concluded negotiations in New York on Tuesday for a new 3 year collective bargaining agreement covering below the line technicians and artists who create commercials. The parties agreed to early negotiations in order to promote stability and give both sides an opportunity to plan and budget past the current expiration date of September 30, 2013. IATSE President Matthew Loeb commented, “We recognized the value of early negotiations when both sides are willing to address the important issues and provide stability to the members of the IA and the commercial producers.” The details of the pact have not been released. Issues that the parties dealt with include wages and benefits, training, safety, overtime, long work days as well as non-traditional commercials and low budget commercials. “The industry is changing and it is important that as we see new opportunities that come with new challenges, we can work with the skilled crew base we have always relied on in new and progressive ways,” said Matt Miller, President and CEO of AICP. “Our open and frank discussions centered around this theme.”

A Tale Of Two Movie Tie-In Games: ‘Star Trek’ Flops, ‘Fast & Furious 6′ Tops

The mobile gaming tie-in to Universal’s Fast & Furious 6 launched on the iTunes App Store last week and is #1 among free apps in 45 countries. Created with SF-based studio Kabam, it’s also the #1 overall game in 69 countries, the top racing game in 112 countries, and the #1 action game in 85 countries. Its iPad app version runs comparable if even wider in saturation as the top free app in 81 countries. By contrast, Paramount‘s Star Trek: The Game – tied to the release of Star Trek Into Darkness – stayed in-house and it’s doing lousy since it came out last month. According to VG Chartz, unit sales in its first three weeks are only 140K to date across PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 consoles. It’s also considered a failure because it’s very buggy despite years of development. Critics and users alike gave it poor reviews.  So what happened? Insiders say the game originated under Paramount Digital Entertainment president Tom Lesinski who made the decision to develop and produce it in-house vs licensing the intellectual property to a 3rd party publisher like Electronic Arts, Activision, or Ubisoft. When Lesinski was fired in September 2011, his domain was absorbed by the studio. The Star Trek gaming project was picked up by Paramount Promotions’ Brian Miller, SVP of Worldwide Marketing Partnerships and ... Read More »
