S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

With "Only God Forgives" screening this morning at Cannes (read our review), it's clearly Nicolas Winding Refn day here at The Playlist. In the shadow of the success of the new film's predecessor, 2011’s “Drive,” one of the more surprising moves the director made was signing up for an adaptation of the TV show “The Equalizer” with Denzel Washington set to star, before just as suddenly bailing on the project. While no specific reason was given for his exit at the time -- Sony was unable to close the deal with Refn -- the director has hinted at the reason for his departure. In an interview with the LA Times, Refn said that he’d “rather make a good movie that breaks even than a bad movie that makes money.” Coyly, Refn elaborated “Let’s put it like this: There’s a reason why I pulled out.” Yikes. And it doesn’t look like the studio has gotten the hint with Rupert Wyatt similarly joining and promptly exiting the project in under a month total. Script...

When the stars descend upon the Cannes Film Festival, glamour always ensues. Naomi Watts glowed on the red carpet of the For the Love of Cinema event with a fresh makeup look with a French influence. Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell created the look and offers step-by-step instructions for your own gorgeous beauty transformation. OK! On her cheeks I used Bobbi Brown Cream Blush in Pale Pink to create depth and a flushed cheek. Then for a pop of color I added a wash of Laura Mercier Second Skin Color in Lotus Pink to the apples of the cheeks.” OK! I used MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow on the lash line blending up just a little to give a beautiful highlight. I then brought a little of the shadow under her eye to open them up.  Naomi has beautiful eyes so I wanted to enhance the shape. I used MAC Carbon Eyeshadow, dampening my eyeliner brush so the shadow would turn into a soft liner and give the eye definition and depth. I lined the eye on the outer corner and gave the ends a slight flick for a flirtatious finish to the eye.  I finished the eye off with two layers of YSL Faux Cil Mascara in Black.” OK!
