Isn't there a Lego movie every other week with Batman, Superman and Star Wars? It's honestly hard to tell, there's a Lego trailer all the time and this writer personally just drowns them all out, but Warner Bros. "The Lego Movie" is something else entirely. First up, it's directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors behind "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" who more than successfully transferred over into the world of live action with "21 Jump Street." Writers and directors from the animation world, they have a great sense of comedy, rhythm, dimension and space; must-have elements for filmmakers.Well, they're back in the world of animation with "Lego: The Movie," and as lame and generic as the title may be -- the whole thing can seem like just an excuse to sell toys (which it probably is, anyhow -- the trailer is admittedly awesome. Here's the official synopsis: The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly...

EXCLUSIVE: Liv Tyler is set to co-star opposite Justin Theroux in Damon Lindelof’s HBO drama pilot The Leftovers, directed by Peter Berg. Co-written by Lindelof and Tom Perrotta based on Perrotta’s book, the project takes place after the Rapture happens but not quite like it’s supposed to. It is the story of the people who didn’t make the cut… and a world that will never be the same. Tyler, repped by UTA and Untitled, will play Meg, a young woman on the verge of getting married, but needing an escape. As a result, she becomes a target for recruitment by members of an enigmatic cult. This marks the first TV gig for feature actress Tyler, whose film credits include the Lord Of The Rings trilogy and The Incredible Hulk. She recently wrapped indies Space Station 76 and Jamie Marks Is Dead and wrote an etiquette book with her grandmother, which will be published by Random House this fall. Related:

"2001: A Space Odyssey," "Blade Runner," "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind," "The Tree Of Life"...the resume of VFX legend Douglas Trumbull pretty much speaks for itself. But he's also been a filmmaker as well, helming two oddities from the '70s and '80s -- "Silent Running" and "Brainstorm" (the latter notable for being the film Natalie Wood died while making) -- but hasn't done anything since except for a few shorts and some theme park stuff. But he's got some big plans...if the technology can arrive to make it happen... Trumbull has quietly been assembling a short film entitled "UFOTOG," a new ten-minute movie about a photographer trying to snap a photo of a UFO or something that is boasting some big, orgasmic tech details for those of you who are into that sort of thing. You see, it was shot in 4K 3D, on 3D virtual sets at Trumbull's own studio, at 120 frames per second (take that Peter Jackson and James Cameron!). In fact, JMR Electronics had to built the guy a...
