
Perhaps a recap of the journey we've been on with "Gravity" is in order. Hell, just getting a cast in order is a story itself with Robert Downey Jr. and Angelina Jolie attached at various points, and after the latter left, a frantic search geared up to find a replacement for take the lead with Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Marion Cotillard, Carey Mulligan, Sienna Miller, Abbie Cornish, Rebecca Hall, Olivia Wilde and Blake Lively all being rumored/considered/wishlisted before Sandra Bullock signed on, followed shortly by George Clooney. And then there's been the hype: chatter about an apparently heavily CGI, 20-minute opening sequence; Guillermo Del Toro calling it 5-years ahead of its time; a 3D shoot that left Clooney hoping he'd never bother with the format again; a product that Bullock said will be "profoundly silent and big and loud and I don't know how to explain because I have never seen anything like it" and...

Downton Abbey alum Dan Stevens has been booking roles of late that mark a departure from the hit period series, including Wikileaks movie The Fifth Estate and thriller A Walk Among The Tombstones. Summer In February, which Stevens exec produced, sees him firmly back in period drama. Dominic Cooper also stars with Emily Browning in the CrossDay Productions/Apart Films title. Christopher Menaul directed the adaptation by Jonathan Smith from his own novel that’s set at an Edwardian artists’ colony on the Cornish coast of England before the start of WWI. Metrodome releases in the UK on June 14. Here’s the trailer:

Lord knows we've been ringing the bell for Abbie Cornish for quite some, an actress who seems just on the cusp, but hasn't quite found the mix of the right material and momentum to truly break out in a Chastain-esque fashion. (Though in a just and fair world, that should've happened after "Bright Star"). And so, we continue to hold out hope and in the meantime, she's booked a movie that find here re-teaming with one of the "Seven Psychopaths." Cornish has come onboard the thriller "Solace" that already has Colin Farrell and Anthony Hopkins slated to star. A project that has been kicking around for a decade, in various stages of development, the plot revolves around an FBI agent (Farrell) who enlists he help of a retired doctor (Hopkins) with psychic abilities (?!) to track down a killer. There's no word yet on Cornish's part but let's hope it actually gives her something substantial to do unlike her appearance in 'Psychopaths.' Afonso Poyart, the Brazilian helmer...
