Since the 2009 VMAs, Gaga has become an international sensation.By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga at the 2009 VMAs Photo: Christopher Polk/ Getty Images With a whopping 13 nominations, Lady Gaga is bound to take home at least a Moonman or two when the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards go live September 12. Since hitting the stage at last year's show, where she took home a prize, hit the carpet with Kermit the Frog, got bloody onstage and had multiple wardrobe changes, Gaga has established herself as one of the music industry's biggest stars, thanks to the success of her album The Fame and her love for her "little monsters." Shortly after the VMAs last year, Gaga ditched a planned tour with awards-show rabble-rouser Kanye West, calling the decision "mutual" and opting to go on a solo outing instead. In November, she released The Fame Monster and the epic "Video Phone" clip, telling Beyoncé for the Hype Williams video: "I want to tribute you." Around the same time in November, Gaga released her VMA-nominated video for "Bad Romance." The eye-catching video, directed by Francis Lawrence, kicked off a string of Gaga videos that would leave fans' minds boggled and hungry for more Gaga-fied visuals. In January, Gaga took home some Grammys and performed at the show alongside piano-pop god Elton John, wearing what looked like a planet to the event. That same month, Gaga raised $500,000 for Haitian earthquake relief. In February, she teamed up with Cyndi Lauper for the Viva Glam MAC campaign and then paid tribute to her late pal, fashion designer Alexander McQueen, at the Brit Awards. March saw Gaga get very, very ambitious, with the release of her massive video for "Telephone" with Beyoncé. And while the director, Jonas Åkerlund, said the clip had nothing to do with "Kill Bill," its Tarantino-esque touches certainly had fans watching over and over again. Lady Gaga hit the "American Idol" stage to perform her track "Alejandro," and in June, she released a video for the summer-friendly track, complete with Madonna references and a Katy Perry beef. (The Perry beef was one of many in 2010; she also found herself criticized by Christina Aguilera, M.I.A. and Beatles fans.) June also saw Gaga acting out at baseball games and revealing that her next album was basically done. She later debuted the new track "You And I" at an Elton John benefit. While she may have the most Twitter followers, for a short time in July, Justin Bieber had more YouTube streams. Which brings us to August, her 13 VMA noms, a crowd-surfing good time at Lollapalooza and another new song, "Living on the Radio." This year, three of her tracks — "Bad Romance" and "Telephone" and "Video Phone" with Beyoncé — rule the VMA nominations. Which Moonmen will she win? More importantly, what will she wear? It's only a matter of time until we find out. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. AP - Angelina Jolie plays an indestructible CIA officer accused of being a Russian spy in "Salt." The role allows her to do so much of what she does so well: kick butt and look impossibly sexy doing it. Following the "Tomb Raider" movies, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "Wanted," "Salt" solidifies her standing as the most alluring and reliable female action star working today.

The Young Money MC dons geisha gear and fights to the death, à la female assassins in 'Kill Bill' in new clip.By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Kelly Marino Nicki Minaj on the set of her music video "Your Love" Photo: MTV News Maybe Nicki Minaj — whose alter ego is named Roman Zolanski — should consider yet another nickname: Onika Thurman perhaps? Because the theatrical MC does her best impersonation of Uma Thurman's Bride from in "Kill Bill" in her new "Your Love" video, which premiered Wednesday (July 21) on MTV. "We wanted to have geisha themes, samurai themes, stuff like that," Minaj told MTV News from the Los Angeles set. "I wanted to tell a love story. It's just kinda liking a guy, where he's not really for you to like — the forbidden fruit — and me and this other girl happen to like him and we go to war." In the clip, actor Michael Jai White serves as the Young Money MC's sensei and love interest. Decked out in geisha gear, Nicki raps while White teaches a martial arts class. She's soon swooning over her instructor. Another student, however, also has feelings for the teacher and observes Nicki's smitten ways. The two women exchange words that escalate into all-out battle, à la the Bride and Lucy Liu's Cottonmouth character, leaving one gasping for life as White discovers the body. The "Your Love" clip was directed by Lil X and follows the Queens rapper's first visual, 'Massive Attack," which was helmed by Hype Williams. The song is also the second single from Minaj's yet-untitled debut, slated to arrive November 23. (The rapper tweeted the date to her followers earlier this month.) Currently, Nicki Minaj is also enjoying top-five status as a finalist vying for MTV's "Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010." She's earned plenty of fans with her over-the-top delivery and facial ticks during her rhymes. "Nicki Minaj runs hip-hop," M.I.A. said recently. "She works hard, and that's what it is. She's focused, and that's good. She's got really good work ethic." What do you think of Nick Minaj's "Your Love" video? Share your reviews in the comments!
