It stars Chris D’Elia, who became officially available yesterday when NBC cancelled Whitney. This marks the second pickup for Lawrence, who also is producing new Fox comedy series Surviving Jack. Okay, we didn't see this coming. At all. At only sixteen years old, Moretz is already looking to push the envelope of the roles she'll take on, featuring in the grimy indie "Hick" (which by all accounts was pretty awful) while this fall she reign in terror as "Carrie." But taking the part of a young prostitute? Like we said, didn't see this one coming... Nothing is confirmed just yet, but Deadline reports that the offer has been made to Moretz to take the role of Teri, the female lead, in Sony's long developing "The Equalizer" with Denzel Washington set to star, and Antoine Fuqua to direct. EXCLUSIVE: A couple of intriguing developments have happened on The Equalizer. After a strong reading with Denzel Washington, Chloe Moretz is getting the offer from Sony Pictures to play the female lead in the drama that will re-team Training Day tandem Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua. At the same time, Michael Sloan, creator of the 1980s TV series, has made a deal to write an original novel for Thomas Dunne Books that will continue the adventures of Robert McCall, the shadowy character originated by Edward Woodward who’ll be played on the big screen by Washington. Moretz is a surprise choice to play the role of Teri, in that the role was originally drawn for a twentysomething. After Moretz did a chemistry reading with Washington, he was very impressed as was everybody else, and the role will be redrawn for Moretz to play a young prostitute, reminiscent of Joe Foster in Taxi Driver. Deal has to be made, but between this and the upcoming Kimberly Peirce-directed Carrie, that little girl from Kick-Ass is turning into a young woman who’s taking on some of the edgiest roles in town. As for the the new book: it was acquired for the St. Martin’s Press/Macmillan Publishers imprint Thomas ... Read More »

Four graduate students will be chosen from candidates from the Film/TV/Digital Media Department and Theater Department. They will participate in the creative, technical, production and management process of Cirque du Soleil’s resident shows in Las Vegas and will be involved in the process from development through production.
