We're now a month away from seeing "Man Of Steel" on screens, and there's still several ways it could go. We could be looking at a "Batman Begins," a film that revives the franchise and goes on to bigger things. We could be seeing a "Superman Returns," one that pretty much stalls the DC hero and leaves it needing another reboot. Or we could be looking at something huge, an "Avengers" style hit. The trailers have been strong, the buzz good and screenings should be underway in a few weeks. Until then, to tide us over, a new featurette on the film has arrived, courtesy of Walmart of all people (they're sponsoring a series of early screenings the day before the movie opens; you can find out more here). There's a fair bit of new footage, as well as slightly puff-piece-y input from Zack & Deborah Snyder, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe and more. Zack Snyder takes Superman very seriously. “In the comic-book universe, you have all these sort of minor celebrities that have been put up as the end-all, be-all,” Snyder told Hero Complex recently throwing some shade at movies that have featured lesser heroes like Green Lantern, Ghost Rider and the Punisher among others. “And then you have the fallen king who’s sadly relegated to the shadows. It’s cool to resurrect him and say, ‘Understand that this is the granddaddy of all superheroes.’” That's fighting talk, especially given the grosses for "Iron Man 3," but Snyder has every reason to be confident at this point; the buzz on "Man Of Steel," is becoming increasingly deafening, to the point where we image Warners are keen for people to lower their expectations, for fear of being disappointed when the finished movie doesn't cure cancer or grow limbs back.
